Razer’s monster themed headset is getting an equivalent of a mecha upgrade.
With three headsets already sporting the Kraken moniker it seems that Razer has decided that maybe that’s still not enough. With the Forged Edition, Razer has decided to enter the metal age with their monster themed headset.
A far cry from the plastics used by its fellow Kraken siblings, the Forged Edition is encased in aircraft grade aluminum with a matte finish, giving it that build and look to rival most of the conventional headphones out in the market. Of course sound on metal is going to be different from sound on plastic, so to take in account how the new materials will affect audio acoustics, Razer said that its audio engineers have spent quite a number of hours to fine tune the 40mm bass-heavy drivers to work perfectly with these ear cans.
It isn’t just aluminum that’s being added into the mix. Razer has also thrown in plush leatherette ear cushions for the ear cup linings, giving it that little extra luxuriousness. There’s also a swappable cable with in-line microphone so this monster doesn’t stray too far from its gaming roots.
All this metal and leather does come at a pretty penny though. With a RM1199 price tag, this metal monster can rival the price of some of the more mainstream audio headphones. We’ll just have to see if it performs just as well as them on the music front.
