Nothing says you’re a true fan of anime maestro Hayao Miyazaki like building a world in Minecraft based on his 2001 film Spirited Away. Welcome, to the spirit world, Minecraft-style.

Alan Becker’s faithful re-creation is a testament of his love for Miyazaki’s touching anime and the creative freedom of Minecraft. Using 400 screenshots from the film, concept arts and paying close attention during every re-watch, Becker spent several years (and an unimaginable amount of effort) building the locations in his customised Minecraft world.

And the attention to details, is truly out of this world. Technically true, since it is the spirit world that you’ll be visiting.

As of now, the Minecraft enthusiast and Miyazaki fan estimates that the world is 85% complete. Even so, it looks astounding at this stage. Fans of his work can also take a guided tour of the Minecraft spirit world on his YouTube channel and download the custom world from Planet Minecraft.

Now all we need, is for Chihiro, Mako, No-Face and other beloved characters from the spirit world to make a cameo appearance.
