Sony PlayStation 4 Asia Availability
Gamers in Asia might be tempted to pre-order Sony’s PlayStation 4 from Amazon and reduce yourself to a quivering mess when it’s sent to your house by the end of November. Don’t.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia has announced that its updated gaming console will hit stores in Asia, starting with Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore from December 2013.
Though Asia gamers will have to wait about a month longer than US and UK gamers to bring a local set home, they are breathing a sigh of relief, and feeling a pang of sympathy for Japanese gamers. Last month, Sony announced that the PS4 will be launched on 22 February in Japan, nearly three months after it is available in US and Europe. Sony stated that the delay is required to “tailor the software for the Japanese market”.
This is a non-issue for Asian markets, as English is widely used, thus requiring minimal work by Sony to adapt the console for the region.
Pricing for the PlayStation 4 will be announced during the Asia launch event in November. Now, shouldn’t you have a nice chat with your other half about this year’s Christmas present?
