Take that&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-iwatch/review">Apple Watch</a>, which reportedly only lasts for one full day before needing a top-up.</p> <p>The MB Chronowig is designed to work with plenty of devices too - it&#39;s compatible with iPhones from the iPhone 4S up and Androids running Android 4.3 and newer.</p> <p>As well as looking like a normal watch, the Chronowig should also feel like one: it uses normal watch-style straps in leather, nylon or rubber, and from the pics we&#39;ve seen it doesn&rsquo;t look to be any thicker than some metal wrist-burdens that don&rsquo;t offer any phone smarts at all.</p> <p>After all the fuss about whether the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-iphone-6/review">iPhone 6</a>&nbsp;would get a Sapphire glass display, you&nbsp;may also be interested to know that the HP watch has a Sapphire Crystal top plate: it&rsquo;s harder than nails. Well, the MB Chronowig is smart, but not that smart.</p> <p>It doesn&rsquo;t run <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/google/android-wear/review">Android Wear</a> or another known operating system, but instead seems to offer fairly basic smart features that all take place using Bluetooth. The front&#39;s not even a touchscreen &ndash; can a smartwatch already be retro?</p> <p>You get email alerts, calendar notifications and can control music from the watch. But you&rsquo;re not going to be playing games, measuring your heart rate or tracking your runs. There are 10 smart features in total, just a fraction of what&#39;s possible with most other smartwatches. Simple is the order of the day.</p> <p>It does have a share tracker function, though, which seems apt because this watch does not come cheap. It&rsquo;s expected to cost between US$350 (RM1164) and US$650 (RM2162).</p> <p>And making a UK conversion is a bit pointless when, with just 300 MB Chronowig watches being made, they may not be too easy to get hold of anyway. Still, check out the <a href="http://www.gilt.com/sale/men/mm/michael-bastian-x-hewlettpackard-1">Gilt website</a> from November 7 if you fancy a particularly pricey stop-gap until the Apple Watch turns up next year.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-iwatch/review">Hands on with the Apple Watch</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> http://www.stuff.tv/my/hp/hp-s-first-smartwatch-offers-more-style-iwatch/news#comments Android Wear HP Smartwatch Wearable tech Mon, 03 Nov 2014 14:58:13 +0000 Hafizah Osman 1452103 at http://www.stuff.tv HP Sprout is a PC with a 3D scanner and huge tactile touchpad http://www.stuff.tv/my/hp/hp-sprout-pc-3d-scanner-and-huge-tactile-touchpad/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> So that’s what HP’s bean (sorry) up to over the past few months… </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="HP Sprout is a PC with a 3D scanner and huge tactile touchpad" alt="HP Sprout is a PC with a 3D scanner and huge tactile touchpad" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/hp-sprout.jpg?1415010601" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>HP has just announced an oddity of a PC, and it&rsquo;s actually rather exciting.</p> <p>Dubbed the Sprout (no, we&rsquo;re not quite sure why either), this machine initially looks like a pretty ordinary all-in-one desktop. The only differences are that it claims to sport a 8MP rear camera&nbsp;and a quad-core CPU instead. It also provided more details about its specs, including its screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 and 12GB of internal storage space.</p> <p>It also identified that it&rsquo;ll include NFC capabilities, GPS, an accelerometer, compass, pedometer, barometer, and even a proximity sensor.&nbsp;</p> <p>This leak follows the buzz around the industry that HP&rsquo;s prepping for the launch of three new tablets by end September, raising question if the HP Red could be one of them. &nbsp;</p> <p>Also, although it sounds pretty fancy, we doubt the device is going to be carrying this name. The tipster claims the unit will be named HP Slate 16 and will be unveiled at the IFA 2014 event on 5 September, unlike previous rumours that have indicated at a launch sometime next month.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/hp/hp-s-new-pavilion-and-envy-notebook-range-combine-performance-style/news">HP&#39;s new Pavilion and Envy notebook range combine performance with style</a>&nbsp;</p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://playfuldroid.com/unannounced-hp-red-tablet-has-been-spotted-at-benchmark/" target="_blank">Playfuldroid!</a>]</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Rumours of the HP Red surface again" alt="Rumours of the HP Red surface again" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/hpgsm_0.jpg?1406809046" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/rumours-hp-red-surface-again/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.stuff.tv/my/android/rumours-hp-red-surface-again/news#comments Android HP PC Tablets Thu, 31 Jul 2014 12:02:10 +0000 Hafizah Osman 1443759 at http://www.stuff.tv Is this HP’s upcoming taptop named HP Red? http://www.stuff.tv/my/hp/hp-s-upcoming-taptop-named-hp-red/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sources say HP’s working on a laptop/tablet hybrid, and it’s spec filled </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="567" height="425" title="Is this HP’s upcoming taptop named HP Red? Again, it doesn’t have quite the microsecond smoothness of the Pixel, but it’s lighter and less than a quarter of the price.&nbsp;</p> <p>In the couple of hours we’ve spent using it, the Exynos 5250 APU has only got slightly warm. Although it would probably void the warranty, too.&nbsp;</p> <p>Perhaps the biggest point in the Chromebook 11's favour is that it charges via microUSB – a really superb piece of design that will make people’s lives easier and kill a few less arctic foxes.
