Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is the most powerful tablet in history

Samsung’s updated Note 10.1 boasts eight-core processing and 3GB of RAM

Samsung today unveiled a new 2014 edition of its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet – and it’s a real powerhouse.

With an eight-core, 1.9GHz Exynos processor and 3GB of RAM, it’s quite possibly the speediest tablet on the market – but there’s as yet no indication that the UK will get this edition. Much like the Samsung Galaxy S4, we could be in four a quad-core version, with the octo-core monster reserved for selected foreign markets.

Interestingly, the 2014 Note 10.1 will be available in Wi-Fi only, 3G and 4G LTE editions, with the latter coming not with the eight-core Exynos chip but a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Whatever the case, it promises to be a beast when it comes to multi-tasking, an area where Galaxy Note models have always excelled.

Aside from the powerful innards, there’s a 2560 x 1600 screen (that’s around 300ppi), updated S-Pen stylus, an 8MP rear camera with flash, 2MP front camera and a giant (and non-replaceable) 8,220mAh battery. 16GB, 32GB and 64GB editions will be available, all of which can be expanded a further 64GB thanks to the microSD slot. All run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and feature a love-it-or-hate-it stitched leather back panel.

The new S-Pen comes laden with features like the Air Command wheel: hover the tip of the stylus over the screen and the wheel appears, giving you shortcuts to various S-Pen-compatible apps.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 will be available from Novemeber 7th onwards at RM 2,299.
