The Ford Fiesta's had a refresh which brings a new front face – Aston Martin-like – and several new toys and gadgets present on the Fiesta for the first time in Malaysia. The biggest toy on offer is Sync by Microsoft.
Sync your phone and car
Developed in tandem by the two companies, Sync is Ford’s own take on an In Car Entertainment (ICE) system where the passengers can connect or pair their media to the car’s audio system. Technologies such as Ford Sync were initially available only on some vehicles but Ford is making them accessible to more customers by introducing them across its vehicle line-up, including the new Fiesta, a first in Malaysia.
With Sync, Bluetooth connectivity and MP3 capabilities, the tech-savvy can be constantly plugged into their favourite music and connected to their world while on the go. It allows drivers to answer phone calls and select music from devices connected via Bluetooth or USB, and listen to text messages by simply using voice commands. This helps drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times. No more one-handed driving on the streets!
Save money with a new engine
Of course the new feature being promoted this time around is the new engine in the new Fiesta, specifically the new 1.0 litre Ecoboost engine. When asked why they chosen a 1 litre displacement for the engine, Ford said that it is in the sweet spot of performance and also fuel saving.
The new Ecoboost 1.0 litre engine is so small, that the footprint of it fits in nicely in an A4-sized paper. What so special about this engine? It is one of the few engines out there is both turbocharged, and also comes with only three cylinders. This means that while the engine is small, the output is similar to something bigger. In fact, the output is higher than the current Fieta's 1.5 litre engine.
The new Fiesta with Ecoboost will be arriving on our shores pretty soon. Look out for the announcement in Q1 of 2014!
