How can anything that costs so little be any good? That was then, but this is now and everything has changed.</p> <p>Easily the hottest things in the smartphone world right now, these affordable specced-out mobiles are giving the flagships a serious run for their money with their not-so-budget features. The Lumia 630 is capable of handling most tasks and packs a 1.2GHz quad-core processor that puts it in the same multitasking mode as the higher-ended phones, although you can expect a little lag, but not so much that it drags you back into the stone age of smartphones.</p> <p>The camera is all of 5MP which should do more than fine for your selfies. Wrapped in a 4.5-in IPS LCD display, the affordable polycarbonate-d Lumia resembles its more sophisticated family members, and also offers up the flexibility of style changes in the form of vibrantly coloured shells for those who get bored easily. Same goes for calls - slip the phone out and take your call somewhere a little more private or use the speakers on the tablet to answer your call directly in laptop mode.&nbsp;</p> <p>Another massive advantage as far as we can tell is the copious amounts of storage you get with this device. The smartphone contains up to 64GB storage, with a microSD slot to boost storage up another 64GB. As for the tablet, it packs 128GB of storage, with the option of another 64GB via microSD, while the keyboard holds up to 1TB of memory, with a USB 3.0 and 2.0 slot to plug in your external hard drives. You don&#39;t even have to do the math to know that you could store a decade&#39;s worth of movies in this massive-brained device.&nbsp;</p> <p>As for charging, it&#39;s also a 3-in-1 experience. Just plug the charging cable into the tablet and all the devices drink their fill at the same time. And the T100 is just about as close as it gets.</p> <p>A sturdy duo that&rsquo;s not too top-heavy on laps, the Transformer Book follows Asus&rsquo; tried-and-tested formula pretty closely. Unlike rivals, which balance tablets on docks or provide flimsy keyboard covers, the T100&rsquo;s build is tidy, solid and quick to dock or undock.</p> <p>The T100 slots right into its dock accessory with a satisfying click, and now that Asus has replaced the old slider (which could get stuck) with a big button, swapping between modes is fuss-free. When docked the T100&rsquo;s screen doesn&rsquo;t tilt back quite as much as we&rsquo;d like, but it&rsquo;s still a better set-up than the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/microsoft/microsoft-surface-2/review" target="_blank">Surface 2&rsquo;s</a> awkward two-angled kickstand.</p> <p>This is hands-down the best typing experience on a tablet this size. Although the keyboard is inevitably more cramped than a regular laptop (to match the 10.1in screen&rsquo;s size), the keys themselves have good depth and fast typers will fly. The plastic keyboard dock (there&rsquo;s a soft touch panel on the bottom) means it&rsquo;s easy to rest your hands when typing, too - unlike the sometimes slippier <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/asus/asus-transformer-pad-infinity/review" target="_blank">Transformer Infinity</a>.</p> <p>The trackpad is responsive but as with almost every other Transformer tab it&rsquo;s a touch erratic, occasionally moving either too quickly or with a small delay. Thanks to the full-sized USB 3.0 port, adding a mouse is an option when a flat surface is available. It&rsquo;s located on the left edge making for a slightly messy set-up that could annoy right-handed mouse-wielders but having the option is a bit of a luxury all the same.</p> <p>We have only a couple of niggling isses with the T100&#39;s design. The use of plastic doesn&rsquo;t mean it&rsquo;s light - it&rsquo;s pushing the scales at 550g for the tab and a smidge over 1kg for the pair. Compared to the lighter, more premium<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-ipad-5/review" target="_blank"> iPad Air</a>, say, you&rsquo;ll feel the weight of the duo in your bag. Still, it&rsquo;s lighter than a laptop and the keyboard dock can be left at home some days.</p> <p>It&rsquo;s also the ugly duckling of the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/asus" target="_blank">Asus line-up</a> - the glossy plastic finish of the tablet itself doesn&rsquo;t look or feel as lovely as the aluminium Android Asus offerings such as 2013&rsquo;s gorgeous <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/asus/asus-transformer-pad-tf701t/review" target="_blank">Transformer Pad</a>. But this isn&rsquo;t a statement tablet like an iPad, and it doesn&rsquo;t need to be - it&rsquo;s a tablet that gets things done.</p> <p><strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/asus/asus-transformer-book-t100/gallery?viewid=110230" target="_blank">CHECK OUT OUR FULL ASUS TRANSFORMER BOOK T100 PICTURE GALLERY</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " alt="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/asus-transformer-book-T100-review-keyboard-1.png?1400829581" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " alt="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/asus-transformer-book-T100-review-hinge.png?1400829581" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " alt="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/asus-transformer-book-T100-review-swivel.png?1400829581" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-4"> <div class="field-label">Image #4:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_4" width="1200" height="900" title="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " alt="Asus Transformer Book T100 review " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/asus-transformer-book-T100-review-USB-3-port.png?1400829581" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 8.1 Win </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The big draw here, as we mentioned, is full Microsoft Office - you can access Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (new to 8.1) from the Start screen then work on them in desktop mode. The MacBook pips the Zenbook, but not by much.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/apple/apple-macbook-air-13in-2013/review" target="_blank">here&#39;s our full Apple MacBook Air review</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-9"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Asus ZenBook UX302 verdict </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Asus&#39; Zenbook UX302 is so close to being the perfect Ultrabook.</p> <p>The design is luxurious and doesn&#39;t nab too much from the big book of Apple, the screen is astonishing, and it&#39;s rounded off by solid battery life and decent performance. The cigar-robbing flaw is the RAM &ndash; the 4GB module is a chokepoint in an otherwise powerful performance.</p> <p>This is still a lovely laptop, though. In fact, it&#39;s our new favourite ultrabook.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/laptops/top-ten" target="_blank">The 10 Best Laptops in the World right now</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Asus ZenBook UX302 laptop review" alt="Asus ZenBook UX302 laptop review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Asus-ZenBook-UX302-laptop-review10.JPG?1392615132" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-review-rating"><legend>Review Rating</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-review-type"> <div class="field-label">Type:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> power </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-review-score"> <div class="field-label">Score:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 7 </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-review-type"> <div class="field-label">Type:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> screen </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-review-score"> <div class="field-label">Score:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 9 </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-2"><div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-review-type"> <div class="field-label">Type:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> design </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-review-score"> <div class="field-label">Score:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 9 </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-content-taxonomy field-field-review-type"> <div class="field-label">Type:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> quietness </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-review-score"> <div class="field-label">Score:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> 9 </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-verdict"> <div class="field-label">Verdict:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Not quite perfect but still our favourite Ultrabook to date thanks to its almost perfect selection of components and beautiful design</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-preview"> <div class="field-label">Preview:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Disabled </div> </div> </div> http://www.stuff.tv/my/asus/asus-zenbook-ux302/review#comments Asus Laptops Ultrabook Windows 8 ZenBook UX302 Sun, 16 Feb 2014 09:55:00 +0000 Tein Hee Seow 1432467 at http://www.stuff.tv Asus' tiny 4K Chromebox could be the ultimate Netflix machine http://www.stuff.tv/my/asus/asus-tiny-4k-chromebox-could-be-ultimate-netflix-machine/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Meet the little black box that can pump out 4K on a miniature budget </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="640" height="480" title="Asus&#039;
