This is how the HTC Butterfly 2 might look

Photos of the Asia-Pacific specific device leak on Twitter

We spy, with our little eye, a possible new smartphone. Spyshots of the alleged HTC Butterfly 2 have emerged on Twitter, thanks to @upleaks and the device is one that might be of interest especially to the Asia-Pacific market.

According to the source, the yet to be unveiled Android smartphone is similar to the Japan-only high-end HTC J Butterfly. But unlike the HTC J Butterfly, the rumoured HTC Butterfly 2 will be rolled out across Asia-Pacific.

From what we see in the pictures, the upcoming smartphone will most likely sport the same looks as the HTC J Butterfly, and comes in the same red, blue, or white colours like its Japanese cousin.

What can we expect?

The snaps also reveal some limited information about the purported device. It suggests that the HTC Butterfly 2 will be IP57 dust and water resistance certified. Audio-wise, the HTC phone is rumoured to sport dual stereo speakers with JBL’s proprietary LiveStage digital signal processing technology.

If, as the source suggests, the HTC Butterfly 2 is a remake of the HTC J Butterfly, we can expect it to have the same scope of specs on the inside. They include a 5in, 1080p display, 13MP back snapper with dual-sensor setup, a 5MP front-facing camera, Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. It’s also expected to run on Android 4.4 KitKat and have LTE connection capabilities.

HTC’s scheduled a press event in Tokyo next week, and we'll be there to debunk or confirm the info listed here. Keep watching this space.
