2) Megatron’s (RIP?) Vendetta

Unfortunately Megatron isn’t voiced by his original voice actor Frank Welker in the movies. But fortunately for sci-fi/fantasy movie fans everywhere, the Decepticon tyrant’s movie voice belongs to none-other than Hugo Weaving - the most prolific sci-fi/fantasy movie bad guy in history. Apart from being Agent Smith from the Matrix, The Red Skull from Captain America and basically all the bad guys in Cloud Atlas, Hugo Weaving has also acted as Elrond in the Lord of The Rings franchise - making Transformers the third major film franchise that he is part of.

Yet, his other most culturally significant role stuck him behind a mask that eventually became the symbol of citizen led anti-authoritarian movements everywhere. Playing “V” in V for Vendetta, Hugo Weaving donned the now infamous Guy Fawkes mask to blow up government buildings and slice up corrupt politicians.

So the next time you watch the Transformers movies on DVD, remember that the over-produced artificially-distorted voice of Megatron once famously uttered the powerful phrase, “People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.”
