So the coder slowly understands what action is controlling which icon, and how the code fits together.&quot;</p> <p>The coding interface includes simple icons for Facebook, Twitter and e-mail &ndash; so you could, for example, use the SAM units to create a smart fridge that tweets every time you open it.&nbsp;&quot;Imagine a cycle jacket that signals to the driver behind you where you&#39;re turning traffic,&quot; says Horn. &quot;Or a box in your shoe that tells you where to walk if you need directions. You can build systems to give you a push indication on your phone when someone enters your house; what lights are on, what the temperature is, what your energy consumption is. Fove, though, is trying something different. It&#39;s developing a virtual reality headset that watches you back &ndash; using eye-tracking technology.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/stephen-graves" title="View user profile.">Stephen Graves</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Point of view </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Donning the first of the two devices, we find it&#39;s a little wobbly; unsurprising, since it&#39;s a prototype designed to fit the bonce of Lochlainn Wilson, the firm&#39;s CTO. Despite that limitation&nbsp;&ndash; which won&#39;t be an issue on the finished product&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;Fove quickly demonstrates its potential; in a virtual garden, we&#39;re told to look at a CGI character, who smiles when you meet her gaze. The possibility of using eye-tracking for more immersive VR experiences is immediately apparent; you could select menus with your gaze, and interact with characters in games more realistically.</p> <p>It also gives you a competitive edge in VR games, says Lochlainn: &quot;I don&#39;t believe that VR will ever be mainstream without eye-tracking. a surprise: According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft is seeking to purchase <em>Minecraft</em> developer Mojang AB. The discussed deal is reportedly worth more than USD$2 billion (&pound;1.24 billion), which seems downright crazy for a studio that has shipped only one major game.</p> <p>Then again, the block-based, world-building favorite has sold more than 54 million copies across platforms and spawned an insane amount of top-selling merchandise - and there might even be <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/minecraft-goes-hollywood/news">a movie adaptation</a> in the works. A deal could be finalised within days, says the report.</p> <p>Bloomberg adds that Mojang founder Markus &ldquo;Notch&rdquo; Persson reached out to Microsoft about a potential acquisition months back, and that he is not likely to stay on longterm should the deal go through. And Microsoft reportedly won&rsquo;t pull other platforms&rsquo; versions of <em>Minecraft</em> in this proposed acquisition, perhaps wishing to keep growing the brand while hurrying to concoct an exclusive sequel.</p> <p>[Sources: <a href="http://online.wsj.com/articles/microsoft-near-deal-to-buy-minecraft-1410300213">The Wall Street Journal</a> and <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-09-09/microsoft-said-near-2-billion-deal-for-minecraft-maker.html">Bloomberg</a> via <a href="http://www.polygon.com/2014/9/9/6128819/microsoft-buying-mojang-minecraft-report">Polygon</a>]</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/minecraft/minecraft-launching-xbox-one-playstation-4-week-upgrade-discount/news">Minecraft launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 this week with bigger worlds and upgrade discount</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Little Printer maker Berg shutting down </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Berg, the London company behind the adorable Little Printer nano-printer, has announced that it&rsquo;s about to shut its doors after failing to create a sustainable business around its products.
