Olympus PEN E-PL7: the ultimate system camera for selfies

Thanks to its fully twistable screen, the latest PEN lets you look at yourself while you shoot

Olympus has unveiled the latest addition to its PEN range of compact system cameras – and it’s pushing it as the ultimate selfie machine.

The PEN E-PL7 features a 3in touchscreen that can be tilted or flipped down, the latter allowing users to frame self portraits with ease. Flipping it down switches the camera immediately to “selfie mode”, offering on-screen buttons to make the process of capturing that ideal picture of yourself all the more simple.

The E-PL7 also offers Wi-Fi, enabling it to connect to an iOS or Android device. Install Olympus’ app and you’ll be able to use your smartphone as a remote control for the camera.

Like other models in the PEN range, the camera sports a striking retro look, and has a full metal body to boot. It’ll be available from early October, priced at £499 (which includes a 12-42mm zoom lens) and in three colours: white, silver and black.
