Sure, the Pinarello Dogma 2 isn’t cheap at £10,000 – but it’s what Bradley Wiggins used to win the Tour de France. That feat has defied every British competitor for the last 109 years, so you know this 7kg beauty has got to be special for more reasons than the price alone.
A hand-built carbon frame with an oversized lower headset bearing for front stiffness gives impeccable handling. Of course, if you’re not willing to splash that much cash you can pick up the frameset for £3,950 alone and stick your old budget wheels and shifters on – even though it would be a crime against cyclists everywhere.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Chris Boardman taking gold in the 4,000m race at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics – the first time a Brit won in 72 years – Boardman is releasing the Limited Edition TK/20 track bike.
But although the triple-butted alloy frame is honed for the track it’ll speed you around just fine on the roads as a fixie. And you’ll be unique doing it as there will only be – fittingly – 92 signed models made.

Planet X has made its name providing cheap – yet still impressively well-built – carbon frames. This setup gives you the full carbon frame and forks along with SRAM Rival components and Planet X AL30 wheels. You’ll be hard pressed to find a lighter, more reliable carbon bike for this price anywhere.

Named after the French Paris-Roubaix cobble-road race – which this bike has won three times – the Specialized Roubaix Eilte Triple is a carbon beauty made for absorbing bumps for a smooth yet speedy ride. So, ideal for your daily commute, then.
While the FACT 8r carbon frame with Zertz inserts and DT Axis 2.0 wheels will perform professionally, Specialized has cut corners slightly with the Shimano 105 gearset. It works fine, but for £1800 it could be better, and we’d recommend upgrading to at least Ultegra if your budget stretches.
If you’re starting out in road riding and want a good entry-level bike, you can’t go far wrong with Ribble. Its own 7005 aluminium Sportive frame is light and strong, and with its Shimano Sora 9 speed groupset and Rodi Airline 4 Clincher wheels, it'll have you speeding along in no time. The fact that it looks awesome is just a bonus.
