Finally! Lovefilm Instant arrives on iPhone and iPod Touch

Amazon's streaming video service has just landed on Apple's small screen iOS devices. Take that, Netflix

Lovefilm has finally launched its Lovefilm Instant streaming video app on iPhone and iPod Touch.

Lovefilm Instant on iOS features a redesigned homepage, film information sourced from IMDB, and the ability to wirelessly stream to Apple TV via Airplay. You'll also be able to add titles to your Watchlist to view later on iOS or other devices.

Although Lovefilm Instant has been available on iPad for some time, the smaller iOS devices have previously been limited to the Lovefilm by Post app. Which, let's face it, is a bit retro. The app itself is free to download, although Lovefilm Instant will set you back £5.99 a month, with the first month free. You can also sign up for Lovefilm Instant + By Post, which gives you access to Lovefilm's library of DVDs, Blu-rays and games on disc, for between £9.99 a month and £13.27 a month, depending on how many discs you want out at any given time.

Lovefilm can't afford to rest on its laurels, though – rival streaming service Netflix is available across a wider variety of platforms, and has just launched a redesigned app for Smart TVs and game consoles. It looks like the battle between the streaming media giants is set to hot up even further – which can only be good news for us viewers.
