As the commissioned render depicts, the MacBook Air will only have a single USB Type-C port in addition to a headphone jack, and that smaller, newer USB port will be tasked with everything from charging to plugging in accessories.</p> <p class="p1">No doubt, Apple will have to either include or make readily available a USB hub for those needing to use devices while charging the laptop, or plugging in multiple devices at once. But USB Type-C cables are reversible, and the tech can be used for charging and powering displays.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="492" title="Render based on 12in MacBook Air (2015) leaked specs (Credit: 9to5Mac)" alt="Render based on 12in MacBook Air (2015) leaked specs (Credit: 9to5Mac)" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/apple-macbookair-12in-leak-side.png?1420592581" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p class="p1">And with fewer ports and components, that allows Apple to not only slim down the build, but also cut some of the cost from the computer. <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/6/7505187/apple-macbook-2015-usb-type-c-reversible">The Verge speculates</a> that this model will mark Apple&rsquo;s attempt to offer lower-priced options to better compete with Windows PCs on the value equation.</p> <p class="p1">As the render shows, the new MacBook Air will also cut down the amount of bezel around the screen, which has long been rumoured to finally be a Retina display, and the keys will be scrunched together to fit edge-to-edge within the narrower frame. Claimed battery life is eight hours on a charge, and there&#39;s a 2MP camera for video calls.</p> <p class="p2">The Core M is supposedly good for &#39;everyday computing&#39;, so unlike a Surface or a Macbook, you won&#39;t be playing 2015&#39;s games on the T300 Chi. It seems that adding a touchscreen to a Chromebook increases the drain on the processor, and it can&#39;t keep up with multiple tabs open.</p> <p>It&#39;s an odd result, as the Intel N2830 CPU promises both power and battery life, but here it delivers neither.</p> <p>The keyboard and trackpad could be better, too, with the keyboard feeling particularly cheap and nasty. Decent speakers and its double-jointed hinge make it acceptable for media playback, but look elsewhere if you want a machine suited to productivity.</p> <p><strong>Stuff says ✭✭✭</strong><strong>✩</strong><strong>✩</strong></p> <p>The usefulness of the double-jointed hinge is outweighed by the poor performance of this Chromebook</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Lenovo N20p" alt="The best cheap chromebook laptops" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/best-chromebook-lenovo-n20p-01.jpg?1416478976" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-title"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Tech specs </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-box-out-body-text"> <div class="field-label">Box Out Body Text:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><strong>Screen</strong>&nbsp;11.6in, 1366x768 with 10-point multitouch</p> <p><strong>Processor</strong>&nbsp;Intel Celeron N2830 processor</p> <p><strong>RAM</strong> 2GB</p> <p><strong>Storage</strong>&nbsp;16GB</p> <p><strong>Connectivity</strong>&nbsp;802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0,&nbsp;USB2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI, SD Card reader</p> <p><strong>Dimensions</strong>&nbsp;294.6 x 211.8 x 17.78 mm, 1.3kg</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-4"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Acer C720p (£250) </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Acer&#39;s C720 was the first Chromebook to really embrace the format.
