Microsoft has announced that a made-for-PC Kinect hardware revision is in the works – nicely complimenting the freshly launched beta 2 SDK for developers.
Featuring a shorter USB cable and USB dongle, the new super-cam will also have a new Near Mode, allowing you to use the Kinect while seated comfortably at your desk – as opposed to flailing away on the other side of the room.
This all but confirms Microsoft's plans to integrate the new Kinect's capabilities with its upcoming Windows 8 OS, so it should only be a matter of time before we're flicking through Metro tiles with a mere flick of the wrist.
We don't expect the fancy newer Kinect to work with existing Xbox 360 consoles, but we'll keep you posted.
