Each floating body in the sparse and beautifully minimal <em>They Need To Be Fed</em> universe has its own gravitational pull. You can therefore run around circles without falling off anything, and leap between objects in a floaty, graceful arc. The controls &mdash; left, right, jump &mdash; are simple but responsive, and the mechanics enable you to do a lot with a little.</p> <p>But the real star this time round is the game&rsquo;s level design. The first title in the series was addictive, but short; the second merely a retread. This time round, the game keeps switching things up, lobbing new ideas and playing with your expectations. No sooner will you have mastered a certain type of hazard than another will scupper your progress, from lazily rotating searchlights with deadly beams to psychotic spiked foes that home in on you with unerring accuracy.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/25-fantastic-free-android-games/feature" target="_blank">The 30 Best Free Android Games</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1598" height="900" title="Each floating body in the sparse and beautiful universe has its own gravitational pull" alt="They Need To Be Fed 3 review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/They-Need-To-Be-Fed-2.PNG?1409757146" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1598" height="900" title="The game keeps switching things up, lobbing new ideas and playing with your expectations" alt="They Need To Be Fed 3 review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/They-Need-To-Be-Fed-4.PNG?1409757146" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> More to explore </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Initially, you&rsquo;ll be happy enough just to make it to your lunch date with a giant weed, perhaps having collected the odd diamond along the way. <em>But They Need To Be Fed 3</em> encourages further exploration, with keys that force you to backtrack through unfriendly stretches of space, in order to unlock special levels you can tackle to win yourself an extra diamond.</p> <p>One extra jewel might seem like hard work, but diamonds are the key to progress, unlocking new challenges, although this title&rsquo;s smart enough to ditch one-level-at-a-time unlocks in favour of granting you access to entire sets once you&rsquo;ve amassed enough bling. Instead, the app is designed to help you create good-looking videos, which you can then easily upload to Instagram, Vine, or Facebook at the click of a button, once you have finished editing them.&nbsp;</p> <p>The company took three years to create the app, because, as Hipstamatic founder Lucas Buick says, &quot;color grading footage isn&#39;t enough&quot;. This means that the processing engine creates custom effects for each clip, depending on the length and material filmed, which its rivals don&#39;t.</p> <p>The questions is: are loyal Instagrammers going to download a new app over using the recently introduced filter? It&rsquo;s a similar story with Vine.&nbsp;</p> <p>If you&rsquo;re using the app for Vine, Cinamatic isn&#39;t going to get round the strict six second rule. If you do try to upload videos that are longer then this, you&#39;re warned that the video will be trimmed to the first &lsquo;6.5&rsquo; seconds. A better option would be to let you choose which six seconds of your clip you want to upload.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/vine/review">Vine review</a>&nbsp;</strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Easy sharing " alt="App of the week: Cinamatic" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Social%20Networking.jpg?1407201076" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> CINAMATIC Verdict </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>With a simple, effective design, Cinamatic offers a free way to record and tweak your smartphone videos which end up looking rather good. &nbsp;</p> <p>If you&rsquo;re prepared to pay &pound;1.49 for the &lsquo;Pro&rsquo; features then this app really stands out from the rest and it&#39;s a quicker way to shoot Vines than the official app itself. We&rsquo;ll find out soon in September.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <strong><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/next-iphone-may-come-new-dark-grey-colour/news">iPhone 6 might come in a new dark grey colour</a></strong></p> <p>[Via <a href="http://www.loadthegame.com/2014/07/12/iphone-6-listed-amazon-japan-release-date-price/" target="_blank">Load The Game</a>]&nbsp;</p> <p><iframe frameborder="0" height="180" src="http://pages.haymarket.com/stuff_signup/enews_embed" width="300"></iframe></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Amazon Japan jumps the gun and reveals vital iPhone 6 information" alt="Amazon Japan jumps the gun and reveals vital iPhone 6 information" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/ajap.jpg?1405332954" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/amazon/amazon-japan-jumps-gun-and-reveals-vital-iphone-6-information/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Apple iOS iPhone 6 Smartphones Mon, 14 Jul 2014 10:13:45 +0000 Stephen Graves 1442039 at http://www.stuff.tv 18 ways you're unknowingly killing your iPhone battery http://www.stuff.tv/ios-7/18-ways-youre-unknowingly-killing-your-iphone-battery/feature <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Right your battery sins.
