It’s no secret that OLED technology far surpasses traditional LED, LCD and plasma flat screen options when it comes to black levels and richness of colours. But LG has outdone itself with the new range of 4K OLED models and the E6 is amongst its very finest.
Available in 55in and 65in models, the E6 has been on our radar for a while now and to put our curiosity to the test, we decided to torture it a little bit. Inviting potential flat-screen customers into a showroom and surprising them with the best picture of their life was the idea.
But don’t take our word for it, and we asked the four participants not to either. They could’ve splashed their cash on any of the other technologies but we wanted to illustrate (and discover) the power of OLED compared to legacy screens.
Darker than black
Within a few minutes of walking into the store and setting eyes on the LG 4K OLED E6, our target group was picking up their jaws from the floor. Choosing not to intervene, we simply had the plethora of televisions playing the same program material until every one of the participants stopped in their tracks right in front of the OLED and started marvelling at the Dolby Vision enriched colours and the Infinite Blacks offered by the self-lighting pixels.
For some, it was the elegant design of the TV itself and how well the Harman Kardon soundbar is integrated into the stand, while someone else preferred the connectivity and ease of the WebOS 3.0 to get to the smart apps. Gesture control magic remote, voice control and magic zoom are all included as standard features to keep you entertained long after the movie has lost its plot.
Coupled with a staggering 3840x2160 pixels, the LG 4K OLED is the complete package of eye-popping detail and the most accurate black levels ever produced on a TV at home.
