Throw it, rinse it, drop it with Dell's new Rugged Latitude
Dell's Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet is a pretty hardy machine from the looks of it.
The tablet combines an 11.6in screen with a rugged outlook that protects it from water, sand, dust and drops of up to four feet. Internally, the table is fitted with a fifth generation Intel Core M processor, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal SSD storage.
The specs might not set the world on fire, but it is able to handle most of the tasks that you would throw at a tablet, while the battery delivers up to 12 hours of use in a single charge. The tablet runs on Windows 8.1 OS, so you won't be short of software to run on it.
Being hard as nails isn't the only trick in this tablet's book. The touchscreen is designed to work when the user is wearing thick work gloves, and there are several accessories that expand its talents: a GPS module, mobile broadband, and a nifty snap-on keyboard that's designed to be as durable as the tablet.
There are no details on how much the tablet will cost, but we do know that it should be on the market by the end of July.
