Dealers, retailers, consultants and integrators are arming themselves with the latest techniques and knowledge to better serve their big-spending customers and elevate the standard of home-theatres in the country.

CEDIA, the world’s foremost training and certification body, is holding its fourth session in Mumbai this October at Hotel Sofitel in the Bandra-Kurla Complex area.

A handful of this year’s courses will be presented by veteran CEDIA presenters, Peter Aylett and Ken Erdmann. With over 60 years’ experience between them, Peter and Ken will hold classes in a range of courses, including ‘Future Technologies: The Silicon Valley Scoop’, ‘Wire, Wireless and Fibre – Understanding Bandwidth’, and a number of fundamental networking classes.

Peter will open the training event with the popular CEDIA Accredited Presenter course. This session develops attendees’ presentation and classroom management skills. This is a must-attend course for those who wish to present on behalf of CEDIA at future events.

Previous attendees include local distributors and industry stalwarts such as Sawan Nichani, Jay Nihalani and Harshul Parikh, who will also be presenting CEDIA’s accredited courses during this five-day event. The first day will also see a host of high-end brands holding manufacturer training including Trescent Lifestyles (Steinway Lyngdorf), CasaDigi (The Luxury of Intelligent Homes), Lutron (Essence of Pleasance), Prince AV Concepts (Procella Audio), Trinnov (3D Audio) and Wisdom Audio (Line Source vs Point Source). Sessions will run from Monday, October 3 to Friday, October 7, so anyone looking to get certified should mark these dates.

“India continues to experience rapid growth in smart home technology, so we are thrilled to return to the country for another busy week of industry training and education,” says Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director of CEDIA EMEA. “This event not only provides professionals with invaluable training and guidance, but allows the CEDIA team to meet its members to share ideas and initiatives regarding the industry and its future. We look forward to seeing both new and old faces at the event this October.”

The final day will conclude with a mixed exam session, allowing attendees to take any of the three main CEDIA certifications: ESC-T, ESC-N and ESC-D. Led by Ken Erdmann, the session starts with a short Q&A session, followed by a two-hour multiple choice exam. New for 2016, and part of the association’s continued efforts to grow and solidify the home technology market in India, CEDIA will also be offering two training tracks: the Design track and Networking track, focussing on technical design and data networking respectively.
