HTC M7 coming with 1080p display and 13MP camera

HTC One X replacement set to smash Apple's Retina Display with 468ppi screen

1080p phones are set to be the next big thing, with the HTC J Butterfly hitting Japanese shores, and Sony, Samsung and LG preparing to unveil hi-res superphones in 2013. Now HTC looks set to release a companion to the Butterfly, with details of a 4.7in 1080p phone, codenamed the M7, leaking to the interwebs.

Details of the successor to the HTC One X (pictured) have leaked via Unwired View and @evleaks – and it looks set to be a powerhouse.

The M7 is set to feature a 4.7in, 1080p display – with a Retina Display-thrashing resolution of 468ppi. That SoLux display is set to feature the same optical lamination tech as the iPhone 5's screen, which should shave a few millimetres off the M7's thickness – the screen will also feature improved viewing angles and outdoor visibility.

Inside, the M7 will pack a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory – and, unsurprisingly, it'll run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at launch.

The M7's posited camera specs are equally impressive – a 13MP, 1080p rear camera with an f/2.0 lens and a 2.0MP 1080p front camera. The rumoured specs list is rounded off with stereo speakers and the now-obligatory Beats amplifier.

Expect to see the HTC M7 at 2013's Mobile World Congress – where we'll be getting hands-on with it and its 1080p rivals.
