Take that <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-iwatch/review">Apple Watch</a>, which reportedly only lasts for one full day before needing a top-up.</p> <p>The MB Chronowig is designed to work with plenty of devices too - it&#39;s compatible with iPhones from the iPhone 4S up and Androids running Android 4.3 and newer.</p> <p>As well as looking like a normal watch, the Chronowig should also feel like one: it uses normal watch-style straps in leather, nylon or rubber, and from the pics we&#39;ve seen it doesn&rsquo;t look to be any thicker than some metal wrist-burdens that don&rsquo;t offer any phone smarts at all.</p> <p>After all the fuss about whether the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-iphone-6/review">iPhone 6</a>&nbsp;would get a Sapphire glass display, you&nbsp;may also be interested to know that the HP watch has a Sapphire Crystal top plate: it&rsquo;s harder than nails. Well, the MB Chronowig is smart, but not that smart.</p> <p>It doesn&rsquo;t run <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/google/android-wear/review">Android Wear</a> or another known operating system, but instead seems to offer fairly basic smart features that all take place using Bluetooth. The front&#39;s not even a touchscreen &ndash; can a smartwatch already be retro?</p> <p>You get email alerts, calendar notifications and can control music from the watch. But you&rsquo;re not going to be playing games, measuring your heart rate or tracking your runs. There are 10 smart features in total, just a fraction of what&#39;s possible with most other smartwatches. Simple is the order of the day.</p> <p>It does have a share tracker function, though, which seems apt because this watch does not come cheap. It&rsquo;s expected to cost between US$350 and US$650.</p> <p>And making a UK conversion is a bit pointless when, with just 300 MB Chronowig watches being made, they may not be too easy to get hold of anyway. Now developer DONTNOD aims to do something interesting in the episodic game space by teaming up with publisher Square Enix for a new title called <em>Life is Strange</em>.</p> <p>Initial details provided by the publisher remind us of Telltale&rsquo;s <em>Walking Dead</em> game series, wherein your choices continue to propel the story in new directions with each subsequent episode. Only here, you take the role of a young woman named Max Caulfield with the ability to rewind time, which could surely shake up the usual episodic adventure approach.</p> <p><em>Life is Strange</em> will be playable this week at Gamescom in Germany; it was two years ago this week that we first caught a glimpse of <em>Remember Me</em>. No release date has been pegged, but Square Enix has a wide release planned on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.</p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://eu.square-enix.com/en/blog/announcing-life-strange">Square Enix</a>]</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/gamescom-2012-–-capcom-unveils-remember-me/news">Gamescom 2012 - Capcom unveils Remember Me</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Rare prototype HP calculator watch selling on eBay </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Who needs a smartwatch when you can get a non-production version of the first-ever calculator watch for several, several times as much? NetherRealm developed the excellent Mortal Kombat reboot in 2011 before moving onto last year&rsquo;s great DC Comics fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us. Expect the new Mortal Kombat to be on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for sure, but don&rsquo;t be surprised if it ends up on last-gen platforms as well.</p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/05/28/the-mortal-kombat-x-posters-are-real.aspx">Game Informer</a>]</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/mortal-kombat/review">Mortal Kombat review</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Mortal Kombat" alt="Mortal Kombat" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/mortalkombat10.jpg?1401345181" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-2"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Major Leap Motion controller update enters beta </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The Leap Motion controller is an interesting bit of tech, allowing you to play games and control apps on your computer using only your fingers, but it still lacks enough killer software support to propel it to mainstream success. An impressive new functionality upgrade may turn the tide in that respect, however.</p> <p>Leap Motion (the company) just revealed a major V2 update that&rsquo;s entered beta testing, which allows the existing device to track individual joints and bones, thus better inferring your movements even when part of your hand isn&rsquo;t visible. Just check out the video above to see how impressive the interactions could be&mdash;assuming it actually works that well in practice.</p> <p>The update will also improve the device&rsquo;s resistance to ambient infrared light, letting it perform better in certain lighting conditions. Additional features will be implemented as bugs are squashed before V2 hits consumers, which could be a matter of months still. Here&rsquo;s hoping any UK editions that might appear in future come out a little more understated.</p> <p>The tablets will be launched in India initially, where they&rsquo;ll be available from February.
