My Launchpad Idea: Digital Receipts

The fourth finalist in our Stuff Launchpad competition, Ben Hawkins, pitches his idea to our judges.

Back in March, we asked you to send us your best idea for a gadget, app, service or some other slice of tech genius for the chance to win a week's worth of mentoring by Google's experts in our Stuff Launchpad competition.

Hundreds of you submitted ideas that were everything from completely brilliant to completely insane (many thanks to the guy with the electronic spoon, you nearly made it), and after hours of deliberation we picked six favourites to pitch their ideas to our judges - Russell Hall, co-founder of taxi app Hailo, Oleg Fomenko, co-founder of Bloom.fm, Niko Schröer, Google Office Hours mentor and Simon Osborne-Walker, editor of Stuff magazine - at Campus London.

You know how every time you buy something, you're given a little scrap of paper, and the only use that piece of paper actually serves is to hide in your pocket until you put your jeans in the wash, at which point it escapes and covers all your clothes in a sort of paper dandruff? Our fourth finalist, Ben Hawkins, has an idea that will bin receipts once and for all.
