In order to do that, it requires the Glass wearer to put another piece of tech on his or her head: the Neurosky EEG biosensor (priced at around &pound;70), which measures brainwaves.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/sam-kieldsen" title="View user profile.">Sam Kieldsen</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Psychic photography </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Currently, MindRDR allows the user to take a photo through Glass then share it to Twitter or Facebook, all through mere thought. To discard the image and start again, the user can simply relax and the line will drop to the bottom of the display.</p> <p>At present, these actions are the limit of MindRDR&rsquo;s capabilities, but Chloe Kirton, creative director at the app&rsquo;s London-based developer This Place, says there&rsquo;s much more to come: &ldquo; The possibilities of Google Glass telekinesis are vast. In the future, MindRDR could give those with conditions like locked-in syndrome, severe multiple sclerosis or quadriplegia the opportunity to interact with the wider world through wearable technology.&rdquo; Little wonder, then, that This Place is already in conversations with Professor Stephen Hawking about the future of its app.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Concentrate hard enough and the photo will be taken" alt="Concentrate hard enough and the photo will be taken" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/mindrdr-3.jpg?1405333667" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>MindRDR is available from today for free, and it&rsquo;s open source which means developers can get hold of the code to tweak as they see fit. For sunny days, a set of twist-on shades with polarised, impact-resistant lenses is now supplied.</p> <p>In January 2014, Google released four sets of frames dubbed the Titanium Collection. Google claims that viewing the display is like looking at a 25in HDTV from eight feet away.</p> <p>The tiny on-board computer is powered by a Texas Instruments dual-core CPU running at 1.2GHz, along with 682MB of RAM and 16GB of storage (12GB of which are available to the user). At the time of writing it&rsquo;s running a modified version of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, but Google has revealed that a 4.4 KitKat update is to be released &ldquo;soon&rdquo;.</p> <p>The Explorer Edition sports a raft of sensors (light, proximity, compass, accelerometer and gyroscope) as well as b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a camera capable of taking 5MP stills and 720p HD videos. There&rsquo;s also a bone conduction audio transducer for sound, while an optional wired headset allows you to listen to stereo audio (the earbuds cost US$85, around &pound;50).</p> <p>Glass isn&rsquo;t a standalone device, but rather a companion device that keeps in constant touch with your smartphone (pretty much a necessity as it doesn&rsquo;t have its own cellular data connection or GPS). It&rsquo;ll work with any Bluetooth-equipped phone, but you won&rsquo;t be able to run the MyGlass app (more on that below) unless the phone is using iOS 7 or Android 4.0.3 and above.</p> <p>The built-in battery is perhaps Explorer Edition&rsquo;s greatest weakness, because even with light use it&rsquo;s unlikely to power Glass for more than a day. If you leave the screen on constantly, it&rsquo;ll be drained in just two or three hours. We&rsquo;ve got our fingers and toes crossed in the hopes that battery life will be improved with the retail edition.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/glass/got-google-glass-dont-be-glasshole-says-google/news" target="_blank">Got Google Glass? After tilting your head up or tapping the touchpad to activate the computer, you can say &ldquo;OK Glass&rdquo; followed by a question or instruction: &ldquo;take a photo&rdquo;, say, or &ldquo;how tall is the London Eye?&rdquo; You can also send text messages and open apps this way &ndash; it&rsquo;s pretty much the default way to use Glass and Google&rsquo;s voice recognition technology is excellent.</p> <p>Visually, the UI uses a similar &ldquo;card&rdquo;-based approach to Google Now on an Android phone or tablet, and it looks sufficiently clean, simple and large on the jewel display.
