Google has announced Voice Actions for Android. This video, presented by the incredibly annoying Mike LeBeau, is quite impressive. It shows the usual voice tricks – like calling contacts and playing music (either locally or streamed) – but also shows text input for texts and emails, web browsing and navigation, all by voice. Check out this video to see it in action:

The bad news, other than that it’s unlikely to work this smoothly in a real-world situation, is that you’ll need Android 2.2 to run it. If you’re lucky enough to be in that situation, head to the Android Market or fire up one of these QR codes to get the software:
