Many of you will be familiar with the astounding super hi-res images of Obama's inauguration and the Paris skyline already.

Now GigaPan has released a product for making amazing images of your own.

The GigaPan Epic Pro can handle a camera and lens combo of up to 4.5kg – good for a proper DSLR with a big lens. Set it going and it will pan and tilt your camera, firing off hundreds of images to stitch together into a massive panorama with its included software.

It simply attaches to a standard tripod mount and powers up with its rechargeable battery pack. There are loads of shooting options to choose from, and there's even a remote trigger switch available so you can star in your own version of Where's Wally?.

It's available from next month for $895 from GigaPan Systems.

If you don't have a DSLR, the smaller GigaPan Epic and Epic 100 are available now for $349 and  $449 respectively and work with a number of compact cameras, though something like the Canon Powershot G11 would be perfect.
