Gaikai's cloud gaming service set to bring World of Warcraft to Facebook

Forget Facebook minigames. The future of one-click hardcore gaming is nearly upon us

Gaikai has revealed that its cloud gaming service is ready to roll out on Facebook in an effort to bring fully-fledged PC game demos to the social network's vast masses.

Gaikai CEO David Perry demoed Blizzard's time-sucking MMORPG World of Warcraft on Facebook for industry site GamesIndustry.biz, pointing out that it only needs a few clicks to get up and running from within the social networking site.

Perry believes that instant cloud gaming is a more attractive alternative to the form-filling and download times associated with services like Steam, and the instant-play factor of Gaikai and rival service OnLive certainly are appealing for impatient gamers.

We look forward to seeing how cloud gaming services will play out over the next year, but one thing's for sure – FarmVille had better watch its back.
