Gadget of the Day: Freedom Keychain GPS 2000 Receiver

Here at Stuff towers most of us have an exceptional sense of direction – we know exactly where the kitchen is, and we’re fine-tuned to fin

Thank God, then, for the Freedom Keychain GPS 2000 Receiver from Proporta. It’s a tiny, ickle GPS receiver for Bluetooth devices like PDAs, smartphones and the like.

How small? It’s a microscopic 46x32x14.7mm – smaller than your favourite box of matches. And at 22grams it’ll sit in your pocket and you’d never know it. Unless you were using it, of course.

Once it’s tuned into your Bluetooth gadget of choice, the Freedom Keychain will trade info with up to 51 satellite channels to tell you where you are. All you need to do is download some mapping software from the plethora available online and the Freedom Keychain does all the rest. It’ll also stay globally focused for up to 10 hours before it runs out of juice, the makers claim.

At last, the smallest solution to getting lost. That should spare our blushes next time we try to find our own way to the Post Office without checking first.
