The Model Cinema has no business sounding as huge and cinematic as it does
What’s the story?
What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of Geneva?
Watches? Mountains? Tiny pocket knives? For us, it’s the Swiss audio company that makes stylish iPod docks and wireless speakers with hi-fi levels of performance. Honest.
So when it turned its expertise to soundbases, we knew we were in for a treat. The Model Cinema is impeccably built and looks rather lovely (for a soundbase). It’s got plenty of lovely touches, such as a large LCD-lettered display that adjusts its brightness according to your room’s lighting, so it’s always easy to read. Even the remote looks classy.
Fancy finishes aside, it’s the way the Model Cinema sounds that makes it worth paying that considerably hefty £550 price tag. It’s like you’re sitting in your own personal theatre.
For a fairly slim box, the Model Cinema has no business sounding as huge and cinematic as it does. And yet it does so with authority and insight. You’ll never miss a line of dialogue, nor miss the faint whisper of creepy background noises in horror films. It’s a powerful sound that’s utterly immersive.
