HTC Edge – world's first quad core Tegra 3 mobile leaked

The most powerful phone in the world is on the Edge of glory

HTC Edge – you won’t forget that name in a hurry, as it’s the world’s first Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core smartphone. Pics and specs have found their way onto the internet, showing that the Edge has a similar wide form to the US-only Rezound with the addition of a sexy brushed steel camera surround and low-profile buttons.

The Edge isn't just a pretty face, though – its innards will be ruled by the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, which has four 1.5GHz cores commanding 1GB RAM. And all that power won’t be limited as there’s 32GB onboard storage for – potentially – console graphics gaming, all with Beats quality audio. Combined with a wireless keyboard, mouse and Wi-Fi smart TV, it could become the new personal computer hub, killing off the PC and tablet in one fell swoop.

The camera has gone down the iPhone 4S route with a larger f/2.2 lens managing a 29mm aperture for its 8MP snaps. Although there’s no word on video, it’ll likely be 1080p like its HTC stablemate the Rezound. And the 4.7in display will show all your glorious captures at a stunning 720p, with near Retina Display 312ppi.

The HTC Edge will likely be unveiled in the shell at Mobile World Congress in February 2012. That row of buttons along the bottom makes us wonder whether it'll be rocking Ice Cream Sandwich at launch – though even if it isn't, it's likely that Android 4.0 will arrive on the Edge in pretty short order. So, does this mean you won’t be rushing out to buy the Galaxy Nexus on November 17 now?
