RIM shows off a BlackBerry PlayBook running Android apps

Android apps on a PlayBook? What next, Siri on a calculator?

A developer has released footage of a BlackBerry PlayBook – running RIM's new BBX OS – playing nice with a host of Android apps.

Performance looks snappy, which is good news for the BlackBerry faithful who must be chomping at the bit to get their hands on some Android app goodness.

Android apps will show up in App World like any other BlackBerry offering – and frankly we can't wait to see an influx of extra apps to populate the scarce shelves of RIM's current app store.

There's still no word on when this long-awaited functionality will hit PlayBook devices, but we'll keep our eager ears to the ground for the latest information as always.
