Best Android apps this week - Look Away Now 2

There's nothing worse than some blabbermouth letting slip the footy scores you're trying to avoid – and Twitter has made the problem ten times worse. Fortunately, Look Away Now has come to the rescue – it blocks mentions of scores, goals and other spoilers from football matches from your social media feeds. You can set it to block everything from scorelines to more cryptic mentions like player names and club slang. You can also choose which teams you want blocked out, be it just yours or all games, and even how long you want them blanked out for.

Another week, another photo editing app arrives on Google Play. But Pixlr Express, from the makers of the popular Pixlr-o-matic on iOS, is definitely worth a look. It has more than 600 effects, overlays and borders to personalise your images, meaning you aren't restricted to the handful that everyone else is using. There are filters galore, adjustable lighting effects, colour tweaking and fixing tools for things like red eye and teeth whitening.

Paper Monsters received heaps of praise on iOS and now Android users can see what all the fuss is about too. You play in Paper World, a universe made out of paper and cardboard, which has been taken over by Lord Papyrus and his evil minions. Of course, your role is to stop them, and you take the form of what can only be described as a smiling cardboard box boy, jumping, bouncing, porting and flying your way to victory over 28 side-scrolling levels.
