Five new BBC HD channels are launching on 10 December

BBC Three HD, BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, CBeebies HD and CBBC HD are coming in time for Christmas - free TV just got a whole lot better

The BBC is massively extending its range of HD channels, adding five new HD simulcast channels to its line-up on 10 December.

BBC Three HD, BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, CBeebies HD and CBBC HD will join the existing BBC One HD and BBC Two HD on Freeview HD, Freesat HD, YouView, Sky HD and Virgin Media.

The launch means that the BBC will have HD simulcasts for all of its main channels available just in time for Christmas. Some regional channels are already available in high definition, with BBC One Scotland HD, BBC One Wales HD, BBC One Northern Ireland HD launching earlier this year.

You'll be able to catch highlights in pin-sharp high definition, including Bad Education on BBC Three, the New Year's Day concert from Vienna on BBC Four HD and the Dumping Ground Special on CBBC HD – which may be a blessing or a curse, depending on your tastes.
