Audi A3 to be first US car with a 4G data connection

Audi has announced that its 2015 A3 Sedan will be the first North American car to come with a built-in 4G LTE connection. The data will come courtesy of AT&T and be available in two plans: a six-month plan with a total of 5GB of data and a 30-month plan with 30GB (no pricing details have been confirmed as yet). All A3s with the connection available will come with a six-month free trial of the tech, however, and an accompanying app will ensure it plays nice with your smartphone – ensuring you don’t have to fiddle with your phone while you’re behind the wheel.

Sony’s new Blu-ray can store up to 1TB of data

Sony and Panasonic have announced the Archival Disc, a next-generation version of Blu-ray that can store 20 times the amount of data: 1TB to a standard Blu-ray’s 50GB.

The format, which is designed for professional rather than consumer use, will launch in the summer of 2015. The first available discs will offer 300GB of storage, with 500GB and 1TB versions following later. The discs are write-once and intended for storage use in the likes of film archives and cloud data centres – so don’t expect to see a PS4 update adding Archival Disc compatibility any time soon.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy game remastered for 30th anniversary

The video game adaptation of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is one of the most famously difficult text-based adventures of all time, but don’t take our word for it – the BBC has restored it to life (and added a great deal of spit and polish) for its 30th anniversary, and now you can play it in your web browser.

Vimeo On Demand gets fresh lick of paint

Vimeo has revamped its On Demand experience with a brand new storefront that bundles together themed videos in four specially curated collections and 18 separate genre pages. The revamp also offers a My Library section that shows a user’s viewing history and any titles that have been rented or purchased, and dynamic title cards that show off posters, trailers and descriptions for content.
