Asus MeMO Pad shown off in video

This new 7-inch Android 4.1 tablet is incredibly cheap, but some concessions have been made to keep the price down

Asus today launched the MeMO Pad, a 7-inch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet aimed at the ultra-budget end of the market: it’s going to cost just US$149 (around £95).

The screen features a fairly low resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels (169ppi), there’s either 8GB or 16GB of storage (plus a microSD slot offering up to 32GB of additional space), a 1MP front-facing camera and a 7-hour battery life. The MeMO Pad weighs in at 358g and is 11.2mm thick.

Evidentally, this isn’t really going to compete with the Google Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD and iPad Mini in terms of power, but it could be ideal for someone looking for a slate but operating on a really tight budget.
