Woz: "A lot of people say Siri. I say poo-poo."

Apple cofounder slates the dumbing down of your iPhone's virtual butler

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak thinks that Siri, the virtual assistant for iPhone 4S (and soon new iPad) users has dumbed down since Apple acquired the technology.

"A lot of people say Siri. I say poo-poo," Wozniak told Times Union.

Reminiscing about using the Siri app when it was available in the App Store, Wozniak explained that the original version of the app could give him a list of the five biggest lakes in California, as well as a list of Prime numbers.

Today, however, Siri will – according to Woz – show listings for lakefront properties and hits for prime rib. Ouch.

We've tried Woz's questions out, and Siri pinged up its usual UK-specific "I can only look for businesses in the United States" answer, offering to search the web for us.

Wozniak is a big fan of the new Retina Display MacBook Pro, however – and we don't blame him after spending some time with it ourselves.

Here's hoping that Siri hits those books and ramps up its IQ to reach its previous level of intelligence. These quantum physics calculations won't solve themselves, you know.
