It featured a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel i5 processor, 500GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. Sources claim the new Mac Mini will boast faster speeds, along with upgrades to its ports (to USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 2) and improved 802.11a/c Wi-Fi for better connectivity.</p> <p>The iMac, meanwhile, hasn&#39;t had a proper upgrade for almost a year: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-imac-range-refreshed-haswell-processors/news">new Intel Haswell-equipped 21.5in and 27in were launched in September 2013</a>. There was a 21.5in iMac launched in June but it&#39;s couldn&#39;t be described as an upgrade &ndash; instead it&#39;s a cheaper and more basic alternative to the models that were already available (read our in-depth review of it <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-imac-215in-14ghz/review">here</a>).</p> <p>So the new iMac, which is listed to be 27in, will most likely just have its quad-core 3.2GHz Intel i5 with 1TB of storage and 8GB of RAM internals tweaked. But there&rsquo;s no way of knowing Apple&rsquo;s plans for sure until it actually reveals them. &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/mac-os-x-yosemite/review">Mac OS X Yosemite hands-on preview&nbsp;</a></strong></p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://www.businessinsider.sg/new-imac-and-mac-mini-hinted-by-apple-support-page-2014-7/#.U9mjRICSwYE" target="_blank">Business insider</a>]</p> <p><iframe frameborder="0" height="180" src="http://pages.haymarket.com/stuff_signup/enews_embed" width="300"></iframe></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="604" height="453" title="Heads up! As MacRumors notes, the machine&rsquo;s native resolution would probably be slightly lower &ndash; perhaps 5120 x 2880, which is precisely double the resolution of the current 27in iMac. But Retina display MacBook Pro resolutions are specified and generated by the the machine, before then scaling back down.</p> <p>The 15in Retina MacBook Pro, for instance, has a native resolution of 2880 x 1800, but can generate and then scale down a desktop at 3840 x 2400. That suggests a Retina iMac might scale the maximum 6400 x 3600 resolution to 3200 x 1800.</p> <p>There&rsquo;ve been rumblings and evidence to suggest the iMac has been going Retina before&nbsp;&ndash; most recently the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple%E2%80%99s-new-wallpaper-suggests-retina-display-imacs-coming-soon/news">wallpaper resolutions of Mac OS X Mavericks</a> &ndash; so we&rsquo;re not saying this news means they&rsquo;re right around the corner. Stay tuned.</p> <p>[<a href="http://www.macg.co/news/voir/261224/des-stocks-d-imac-au-plus-bas-et-un-special-event-le-15-octobre">MacGeneration</a> via <a href="http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/506510/20130917/ipad-5-mini-2-release-date-specs.htm#.UjiEYWTwL8R">IBTimes</a>]</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="iPad 5" alt="iPad 5" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/ipad-5.jpg?1381724635" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-carousel-item"><legend>Carousel Extras</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-text field-field-carousel-item-title"> <div class="field-label">Carousel item title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Rumour: New iPads coming 15 October </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> Apple iMac iPad iPad Mini MacBook Pro Rumour Tue, 17 Sep 2013 17:10:59 +0000 Sam Kieldsen 1426777 at http://www.stuff.tv iPhone 5S release “may be delayed” http://www.stuff.tv/apple/iphone-5s-release-may-be-delayed/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Analyst says manufacturing issues may push back its launch – but iPads, iMacs and the plastic iPhone may still arrive on time </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="iPhone 5S release “may be delayed”" alt="iPhone 5S release “may be delayed”" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/iphone-5-ios-7.jpg?1374809890" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>One analyst has predicted that the <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-iphone-5s-could-launch-september/news">iPhone 5S</a>, Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone, will be delayed by a few weeks due to manufacturing difficulties.</p> <p>AppleInsider has got its paws on a research note from KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, who says production of several components for the iPhone 5S is undergoing setbacks means that it will now be launched in late September rather than early in the month, and that it will be available in shorter supply than Apple would like.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/sam-kieldsen" title="View user profile.">Sam Kieldsen</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Other products on schedule </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The analyst however said that he expects the long-rumoured cheaper <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/apple/new-budget-plastic-iphone/news">plastic iPhone</a> to launch in early September at a price in the region of US$450 to $550 (£290 to £360).
