It featured a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel i5 processor, 500GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. Sources claim the new Mac Mini will boast faster speeds, along with upgrades to its ports (to USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 2) and improved 802.11a/c Wi-Fi for better connectivity.

The iMac, meanwhile, hasn't had a proper upgrade for almost a year: new Intel Haswell-equipped 21.5in and 27in were launched in September 2013. There was a 21.5in iMac launched in June but it's couldn't be described as an upgrade – instead it's a cheaper and more basic alternative to the models that were already available (read our in-depth review of it here).

So the new iMac, which is listed to be 27in, will most likely just have its quad-core 3.2GHz Intel i5 with 1TB of storage and 8GB of RAM internals tweaked. But there’s no way of knowing Apple’s plans for sure until it actually reveals them.

READ MORE: Mac OS X Yosemite hands-on preview

[Source: Business insider]

Video ID/URL:

This video is not currently supported.

Image #1:

<img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="604" height="453" title="Heads up! Check out our MacBook Air with Retina display preview for everything we’ve heard about it so far.

The 4K iMac, meanwhile, is something we haven’t heard about before, and the rumours don’t say much about it other than that it may actually end up being a monitor rather than a self-contained desktop, and that it’s due for release in Q3 or possibly Q4 this year. So it’s clear that 9to5Mac’s sources don’t know a great deal about it – but all the same it’s intriguing news. Could this be a high-end iMac aimed at photographers and filmmakers?

We’re clamping our ears to the ground as we write this, and rest assured: if we hear any more 4K and Retina-related tidbits coming from Cupertino, you’ll be the first to know.

[Source: 9to5Mac]

READ MORE: Mac OS X Yosemite hands-on review

Video ID/URL:

This video is not currently supported.

Make full width:

Do not make full width

</fieldset> </fieldset>
read more
4K Apple iMac MacBook Air OS X Yosemite Fri, 25 Jul 2014 12:15:04 +0000 Sam Kieldsen 1443269 at http://www.stuff.tv You can now buy an Apple iMac for less than £900 http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-introduces-cheaper-new-entry-level-imac/news

Apple's dialled down the specs of its all-in-one but retained the chassis and screen. As MacRumors notes, the machine’s native resolution would probably be slightly lower – perhaps 5120 x 2880, which is precisely double the resolution of the current 27in iMac. But Retina display MacBook Pro resolutions are specified and generated by the the machine, before then scaling back down.

The 15in Retina MacBook Pro, for instance, has a native resolution of 2880 x 1800, but can generate and then scale down a desktop at 3840 x 2400. That suggests a Retina iMac might scale the maximum 6400 x 3600 resolution to 3200 x 1800.

There’ve been rumblings and evidence to suggest the iMac has been going Retina before – most recently the wallpaper resolutions of Mac OS X Mavericks – so we’re not saying this news means they’re right around the corner.
