The launch of the new iPad has revealed more than just its own impressive specs, with a hint that Google Maps will soon be ousted from iOS.
Keen-eyed Apple fans have spotted that the new iPhoto doesn’t use Google Maps for geotagging photos. That fact, together with the news from 9to5mac that Apple’s Google Maps contract will end this year – and hasn’t been renewed for 2013 – suggests that this abrasive couple are going to part company.
Since Apple has bought up three different mapping companies, we can expect it to roll out a pretty comprehensive map offering when the time is right. But will it ever match up to the mighty Google Maps?
