A report from finance hacks Barron's suggest Apple could replace the plastic body Macbook within weeks. It also predicts that the iMac will get a refresh.

Barron's sources, which include analyst firm Wedge Partners, also believe that Apple is set to seriously reduce the price of the entry level Macbook.

We saw a Macbook Pro refresh back in June but crucially the plastic body Macbook remains unloved and untouched. It makes sense for Apple to rectify that.

The rumours also suggest that Apple will retain the plastic Macbook as an entry-level product but radically redesign it. That may mean a slimmer, lighter machine priced at under £1000.

If Apple was able to release a laptop for under-£700 it would be able to finally fight many PC manufacturers on price.

Would you buy a plastic Macbook if you could get hold of it for less than £700? Or would you rather stump up more for a Macbook Pro?
