The Apple rumour mill is now in full swing, with stacks of sources suggesting we’ll be getting the new MacBook on 14 October. That’s a Tuesday, Apple’s favourite day for updates.

It’s aluminium

Like the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, the new MacBook will have an aluminium case, built using a new “Brick” process. That means it’ll be more durable and look way cooler than the current white and black models.

It’ll be slimmer

The current MacBook isn’t exactly a monster, but you can bet that the new version will have a more slimline design, in keeping with the likes of the Air.

Graphics will be better

Nvidia has apparently already shown the new machines to their army of graphics fanatics. Word is the people who make your computer screen look ace have bunged one of their cards inside, meaning the new MacBook should square up to the current generation of MacBook Pros.

There’ll be more hard drive space

Shelling out for a MacBook is great, but if you want a standard one, at the moment you get an iPod Classic–matching 120GB. The new ones should tote more capacity, especially as Apple plans on going big with HD movie downloads via iTunes.

It’ll rock iMac styling

If leaked shots of the new MacBook Pro are anything to go by, both the regular and beefed up MacBooks will be getting the same aluminium and black design that dons the iMac. Think a 70s TV with better entertainment options.

They’ll be cheaper

Word to the wise is that Apple is planning a price cut on the new MacBook, with talk suggesting a £599 price tag in the UK. That’s a ton cheaper than at the moment, and would fit with their recent slashes to the MacBook Air’s price tag.
