We knew it was coming, but Sony has officially confirmed that the new PlayStation Store will launch on April 15.

The newly tarted up portal comes with nifty new menus, better functionality and, best of all, the chance to preview games before giving Sony more of your hard–earned cash.

The relaunch comes after a survey revealed PS3 owners to be unhappy with the old, laggy, browser–based shop. Not surprising really, but good to see one of the big boys listening to us humble gadget lovers for a change.

On top of the new store, it’s also been confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Online beta will launch two days later on April 17.

And if you fancy more MGS action, then the gunmetal edition of Sony’s hub, outed today in the US and Japan, should float your boat.
