Nintendo gets sued over 3DS technology

Ninty’s hot under the collar with a lawsuit centred around that magical screen

A Japanese company – Tomita Technologies – has filed a lawsuit against Nintendo, which it alleges infringed its patent for a "stereoscopic image picking up and display system based upon optical axes cross-point information." That's glasses-free 3D to you and us.

The patent (submitted in 2003) mentioned the technology could be used as a glasses-free method of 3D in which images are directed to each eye separately. There’s no word from Ninty as of yet, but we bet they’ve got a whole room full of top-class lawyers ready to strike out plenty of damage in court. No doubt they'll be hoping for a plethora of legal-1ups when the dust has cleared.
